If you spend a few minutes every couple of days running a razor over your forearms, dodging the elbow because it nicks easily, then wishing the result lasted longer than two days, you already know the trade. Sleeveless season in Texas runs eight months a year, and arm hair has a way of becoming the chore you do last and resent most. Full arms laser hair removal at ABL Med Spa covers your shoulder down to your wrist in a single sitting, front and back, with most appointments wrapping in 35 to 45 minutes. After a planned series of 6 to 8 sessions spaced through your hair growth cycle, the upkeep collapses from a weekly task into a yearly touch-up at most.
What makes our full arms LHR different
Two things tend to make or break results on a large surface area like the full arm: laser selection and treatment consistency. We run two devices on purpose. The Diode handles lighter skin tones efficiently, and the Clarity II is our pick for Fitzpatrick IV through VI, which lets us treat olive, brown, and deep skin tones safely without the cooling and energy compromises older machines forced. If your skin tone shifts after summer, we adjust. Same provider, same protocol, different device when the season calls for it.
The second thing is plan continuity. Gaby and our two other licensed providers keep a single chart for your treatment series, with the settings, pulse counts, and post-session response logged at every visit. The provider you book first is usually the one you see throughout, which matters more than people realize. Full arms is a lot of surface area, and a provider who already knows the spot above your right elbow that flushes faster, or the patch on your left forearm where hair grows back denser, finishes faster and gets cleaner clearance.
We also pace your series to your hair cycle, not your calendar. Most clients arrive thinking they should book every four weeks like clockwork. Arm hair runs on a longer anagen phase than underarms or bikini, so we space these sessions at the 5 to 6 week mark and adjust from there. Coming in too early wastes a session on dormant follicles that the laser cannot reach.
What to expect at your full arms session
The day before your appointment, shave the entire treatment zone with a clean razor. You can leave the underarms alone (those are a separate appointment), but everything from the top of the shoulder to the back of the hand should be shaved short. If you miss a spot or cannot reach the back of your upper arm, we will trim it for you when you arrive, no extra charge and no commentary.
You will check in, change into a gown if you prefer (most clients just slip the sleeve off and keep their top on), and your provider will run through the consent form and confirm any skin changes since your last visit. We do a quick test pulse on a small area before going full speed, especially on a first session or after a sun-exposed weekend.
Once we start, the rhythm is steady. Sapphire-cooled handpieces press lightly against the skin, the laser fires in overlapping passes, and you will feel a series of warm snaps. Most clients describe it as a rubber band flick followed by a cool spot. The shoulder and back of the upper arm tend to be the most sensitive zones, the forearm the easiest. If you want a numbing cream applied, mention it when you book and we will set it on 30 minutes before your slot.
From start to finish, plan on 35 to 45 minutes in the room. You walk out, drive yourself home, and go about your day. Mild redness around the follicles is normal for an hour or two and usually fades before you reach the parking lot.
Aftercare for full arms LHR
For the first 24 hours, skip hot showers, the sauna, hot yoga, and any workout that is going to flush the skin. Cool to lukewarm water and a fragrance-free moisturizer is the whole protocol on day one. Aloe is fine if you have a piece going. We hand you a sample at checkout but most people already keep a tube on hand.
For the first 48 hours, treat the area like sensitive skin. Mineral SPF 50 if you are heading outside, even for a quick errand. The follicles are reactive after treatment and pigment changes from a bad sunburn in this window can stick around longer than the burn itself. We are stricter about sun than other providers in the area because the data is on our side, and a careful series will outperform a sloppy one every time.
Around days 7 to 14, you will see what looks like new hair pushing through. It is not new growth. The laser disrupted the follicle and the hair shaft is now being shed from below. A gentle exfoliation in the shower with a washcloth or a sugar scrub speeds this up. The arms will feel patchy for about a week, then smooth out.
Between sessions, the only hair removal method allowed is shaving. Waxing, sugaring, threading, and plucking all pull the follicle out of the cycle the laser needs to hit. If you wax between sessions, the next appointment cannot do anything meaningful and you essentially pay for a placeholder. Shave as often as you like, including the day of your next visit.
