The Central Texas UV index hits 11 by mid-May and stays there until August. That changes what's smart for your face right now. Some treatments are completely sun-safe and the heat does not touch them. Others (the deeper resurfacing ones) want two weeks of low sun before and after, which is hard to pull off when the burn time at noon is ten minutes. This post sorts your options into two buckets: book now without thinking twice, or get on the September calendar so we can do the work properly when the sun cooperates. Everything below is done in our Round Rock office under physician supervision.

Sound Familiar?

Summer changes how your skin behaves. If two or three of these describe what you're seeing in the mirror this week, you're the person this post was written for.

Tone that looks blotchy after a weekend at the lake
Pores that show up bigger in summer humidity than they did in March
Sunscreen-and-sweat congestion sitting on the cheeks and forehead
Fine lines around the eyes the heat squint made more obvious
A wedding, vacation, or family photo coming up in two to six weeks
A post-summer plan to finally do the bigger treatment in the fall

Most face treatments make you pick between a real result and a workable schedule. In a Round Rock summer that tradeoff is sharper, because the deeper resurfacing treatments need protected sun windows on both ends. The good news is there are still plenty of effective options the sun has no effect on at all. The rest are still worth doing, you just want them in October, not July.

Carbon laser facial at ABL Med Spa, Round Rock TX

Three categories of facial rejuvenation work in any season and the Texas UV index is not a factor for any of them. They share two things: no peeling, no broken skin, and no required sun-avoidance window after the appointment. You can leave our office, drive to lunch, and sit on a patio without worrying about your skin.

Hydrafacial at 30, 60, or 90 minutes ($99, $159, $250). Cleanse, exfoliate, extract, hydrate. The 30-minute is the maintenance treatment most clients rebook monthly. The 60-minute adds extractions, LED light, and a face massage, and is the right starting point for most first-timers. The 90-minute adds lymphatic drainage, manual extractions, and eye and lip care. You can wear makeup the same day. Sun has no effect on the result.

Botox, Dysport, Letybo, or Xeomin for the lines that show up when you squint, smile, or frown. Neuromodulators relax the small facial muscles that create those lines. UV exposure does not affect the product, the injection sites, or the result. Most clients see softening at day three to five and the full effect by day fourteen. ABL is one of the few clinics in Round Rock that stocks four of the major neuromodulators, so we can match the product to your facial movement instead of using whichever one happens to be on the shelf.

Dermal filler for the hollows that show up in photos: under the eyes, the temples, the cheek midface, the corners of the mouth, and lip volume. Same logic on sun exposure. The hyaluronic acid sits where it's placed regardless of the weather. There's mild swelling for a day or two, which means you should avoid scheduling a filler appointment the day before a big event, but the heat itself is not the issue.

  • Add a lighter chemical peel if your skin can take it

PCA Sensi Peel and similar lactic-acid peels are gentle enough that our team may green-light them in summer with strict SPF compliance and zero direct sun for the next 48 hours. This is a case-by-case call based on your skin type, current sun exposure, and what you have scheduled in the next week.

  • Pair Hydrafacial with Botox on the same visit

We sequence it Hydrafacial first, then injectables. The Hydrafacial gives us a clean canvas and the injectables sit at the right depth. One visit, two results, both summer-proof.

  • Skip IPL and photofacials until the fall

Intense pulsed light treats the pigment in your skin. In summer that pigment is higher and the post-treatment sun exposure risk is real. We do not recommend IPL between May and September. Put it on the October calendar instead.

  • Daily SPF 30+ is the cheapest treatment in this entire post

Zinc or titanium dioxide, applied every morning, reapplied if you are outside more than two hours. Every result from every treatment above gets erased over time without it. We can show you which sunscreens our clients actually wear without complaining about the finish under makeup. Ask at your next visit.

The Save-For-Fall Bucket (and How to Plan Now)

These are the treatments that need protected sun windows on either side. They produce the biggest visible change, which is why people want them in summer to look good for the upcoming season. The problem is they want two weeks of low sun before and at least two weeks after. In Round Rock that is hard to engineer between Memorial Day and Labor Day. The smart move is to book the consultation now and put the treatment itself on the September or October calendar.

Plan now, treat in the fall. Book a complimentary consultation for any of the treatments below. We will do a skin assessment, talk through your goals for the next 6 to 12 months, and put the treatment on the calendar for when the UV index drops back into the single digits. This is the right move for:

  • Morpheus8 RF microneedling for skin tightening, texture, and acne scars. Tiny needles deliver radiofrequency heat into the dermis to trigger collagen and elastin production. Avoids sun two weeks before and after, which is why October through March is the season for it.
  • Deeper chemical peels (Jessner-class, TCA-class) for sun damage, pigment, and texture that surface peels do not reach. Same sun-avoidance logic.
  • IPL photofacial for brown spots, redness, and sun damage. Recommended October through February only.
  • Laser resurfacing for deeper wrinkles, scars, and texture. Fall and winter only.

The advantage of booking the consult now is two-fold. First, your fall calendar is yours before everyone else realizes it is the only window. Second, we can layer summer-safe treatments (Hydrafacial, Botox, filler) in the months between now and the fall treatment so you do not feel like you are waiting four months to do anything.

A simple summer-to-fall plan most clients run

  • May to August: monthly Hydrafacial (the 30-minute maintenance tier is the natural cadence)
  • May to August: Botox every 3 to 4 months, filler as needed
  • May to August: SPF 30+ every morning, reapplied at lunch if outdoors
  • September: consultation for the fall treatment (if not already booked)
  • October to February: Morpheus8, deeper peels, IPL, or laser resurfacing as planned
  • Year-round: at least one annual visit with our team to reset the plan

Every treatment at ABL is performed in our Round Rock office under physician supervision. Gabriela and the team know your face. The plan is built around you, not a template.
