Maybe you've been studying your top lip in selfies for a year. Maybe your lipstick keeps disappearing into the line where it used to sit. Maybe a friend got it done six months ago and you've been quietly checking her photos to see if it still looks like her. Lip filler is one of the most asked-about treatments at our spa and one of the most misunderstood. The result we aim for at ABL is the version of your face where nobody mentions your lips. They just notice you look rested.
Sound Familiar?
Most first-time lip appointments start with a small, specific complaint.
None of those are problems most people would say out loud. They're the kind of thing you notice in your own face and stop thinking about ten times a day. Lip filler is not about adding volume for the sake of it. It is about giving back the shape your face had a few years ago, in 0.5 to 1 milliliter increments, by a provider who will do less than you think you want.
How Lip Filler Works at ABL

Lip filler at ABL is RHA Collection by Teoxane, a hyaluronic acid filler built to move with your face the way natural tissue does. Hyaluronic acid is the same substance your body already produces to hold moisture in your skin and lips. The filler replaces what's been lost over time. It integrates with your tissue instead of sitting on top of it. It is reversible. And it is dosed in 0.5 milliliter increments so the result builds gradually instead of arriving all at once.
The visit takes about 30 minutes. The first 10 are topical numbing. The injections themselves take about 10 minutes and contain lidocaine in the gel, which is the part most first-timers don't expect. The rest of the appointment is checking symmetry in a mirror, in good light, with you sitting up. If you say "that's enough," that's enough.
- The product matters more than the syringe count
RHA Collection is built for dynamic movement, the way your face moves when you talk and laugh, without the stiff "set" look. There are softer formulations for the body of the lip and firmer ones for definition along the border. Gaby picks the formula by what you are trying to fix, not by what is on the shelf.
- Pain is not what you think
Topical numbing for 10 minutes, then lidocaine in the gel itself. Most first-time clients tell us the worst part is the pressure, not the needle. The injection is uncomfortable for a few seconds at a time and the relief between is immediate. No one has had to take a break from a lip appointment because of pain.
- Day-of swelling is not your final look
You will leave with lips 20 to 30% larger than the actual filler result. That is swelling, not product. It settles over 7 to 14 days. Don't judge the result in the parking lot. Take a photo at 14 days and that is the real before-and-after.
- Dissolving is an option
If you ever hate the result, or want to start fresh in a few years, hyaluronidase reverses hyaluronic-acid filler in one short visit. You are not committing for the rest of your life. You are committing for 12 to 18 months.
Your Simple Path Forward
The first appointment is usually a consultation. No injection on day one if you are not ready.
How to prepare for your first visit
- Book a free consultation with Gaby. About 20 minutes, in our Round Rock office. No commitment.
- Bring a photo of your own face from a few years ago. Your old lips are the best reference point for what looks natural on you.
- Bring a "too much" reference too. We will show you ours. Aligning on what you are avoiding matters as much as agreeing on what you want.
- Plan around your social calendar. Minor bruising and swelling are possible for 24 to 72 hours. If you have a wedding or photo shoot, book 2 to 3 weeks ahead.
- Skip blood thinners (ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, wine) for 24 to 48 hours before, if your doctor allows it. Helps with bruising.
At ABL, lip filler is one of the most quietly common treatments we do. Most clients leave with results their best friend would not notice unless they were told. That is the bar Gaby works to.
If you have been thinking about it for a while and want a straight conversation about whether it is a good fit, a complimentary consultation is always the right starting point. For pricing details, before-and-afters, and full FAQs in one place, see our lip filler page.
