From the front, your face might look perfectly balanced. In a side profile photo, something feels off and you cannot quite place it. For a lot of people, the missing piece is chin projection: the small forward push of the chin that anchors the lower third of the face. Without it, the nose looks bigger than it is, the jawline reads softer than it is, and the whole profile feels recessed.
Chin enhancement with hyaluronic acid is one of the most efficient ways to fix this without surgery, and one of the most satisfying treatments for clients to see in the mirror immediately after. It is also one of the most under-asked-about treatments at ABL. Most people who try it tell us they wish they had done it years ago.
What makes our chin enhancement different
We use the RHA Collection by Teoxane, the same hyaluronic acid family we use for cheek work. RHA 4, the heavier formulation, is what we typically place at the chin for projection. It is resilient enough to hold structure under expression and soft enough at rest to feel natural to the touch.
Four things shape how chin enhancement lands at ABL:
- Profile-led mapping. Gaby maps your chin from the side profile, not just the front. She takes side photos at the consult and shows you the proposed change before anything happens.
- Conservative dosing. Most first-time clients need 0.5 to 1 syringe, not more. The chin is a smaller anatomical area than the cheek, and a little product moves a lot of structure. We would rather see you back at two weeks for a small addition than overproject.
- Reversible if you change your mind. This is the big difference between hyaluronic acid and Radiesse. HA can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if your face changes over the next year, if you decide you want a different look, or in the rare case of any complication.
- Physician-supervised. Dr. Eric Guy is the medical oversight on every injectable visit at ABL. You will not be handed off to someone you have not met.
What to expect at your chin enhancement session
Your first appointment is a free 20-minute consultation. Gaby takes front and side profile photos, marks the placement plan with a white pencil, and walks through what your face will look like with 0.5, 1, and 1.5 syringes so you can decide what feels right.
If you decide to move forward, treatment can happen the same day if the schedule allows.
On treatment day:
- Numbing cream goes on for 15 to 20 minutes. The RHA product itself has lidocaine mixed in, so the area is double-numb before the first injection.
- The injections are placed in a deeper plane on the chin, against the bone. There are usually 3 to 5 injection points total.
- The whole treatment takes 20 to 30 minutes.
- Most clients describe a pressure feeling, with one or two short, sharper moments when the product reaches the periosteum (the lining over the bone). That is a normal part of the technique and lasts a few seconds.
- You will see the projection change immediately. There is some swelling and possible minor bruising that settles over two weeks.
- Most clients walk out, drive home, and return to normal activities the same day.
Your two-week follow-up is part of the price. We look at the settled result, decide together whether to add a small amount of product, and adjust anything asymmetric.
Aftercare for chin enhancement
Chin filler aftercare is simple, and the chin tolerates small interruptions well. The main things to know:
- First 24 hours: avoid pressure on the chin. Try not to rest your chin on your hand, hold a phone with your shoulder, or sleep face down. Skip any dental work for a few days.
- First 24 to 48 hours: no strenuous exercise, no saunas, no hot yoga. Heat increases swelling.
- First 24 hours: skip alcohol where you can. Alcohol thins the blood and makes bruising more likely.
- Bruising help: arnica gel applied gently, and a cool (not iced) compress in 10-minute intervals. Avoid ibuprofen and other NSAIDs for the first 24 hours unless you already take them daily.
- Sensation: the chin may feel firm or slightly tender for a few days. This settles as the product integrates with your tissue.
- Two-week follow-up: we want to see you back. This is when the product is fully settled and small adjustments matter most.
Call or text the office at (512) 721-0274 if you notice anything unusual, like a section of skin that feels cold, looks pale, or develops a sharp persistent pain. We pick up on weekends for issues like this.
Often paired with this treatment
Chin enhancement rebuilds one piece of the lower face. The treatments below come up most often as natural companions:
Pricing and packages
- $650 per syringe of RHA Collection.
- Most first-time clients use 0.5 to 1 syringe. We will not push more product than you actually need.
- Two-week follow-up included.
- ABL membership clients get consistent pricing on injectables and priority access to Gaby’s calendar. Ask about it at your consult.
An alternative worth knowing about: Chin Filler with Radiesse ($600 per syringe). Radiesse is a calcium-based filler that lasts longer than HA and stimulates collagen over time, but it is not reversible. Gaby can talk through which product is right for your face, your timeline, and your comfort level at the consult.
